CHOCOLATE DELIVERY SYSTEM MANUFACTURE & INSTALLATION

CASE STUDY DECEMBER 2016

Design, Manufacture & Installation of Chocolate Melting & Holding Vessels complete with Process delivery system to interface with manufacturer’s supplied equipment.

New manufacturing facility.

Hilton Process Solutions have recently completed the manufacturing and installation of a new chocolate delivery system installation for a leading European cake manufacturer in Bradford.

In connection with the equipment manufacturer, HPS were chosen to design and fabricate three melting vessels, three holding vessels together with all the process pipe work and supporting frameworks to interface with the equipment manufacturer’s temperers.

This consisted of manufacturing approximately 600 metres of 2” in 2.5” stainless steel jacketed pipe work which was supported by a bespoke seamless stainless steel hygienic framework.

Design & Manufacture.

Architectural 2D drawings were provided by the client leaving HPS to design the whole system around the walkways and delivery points.

From product samples given to HPS by the client, the melting grids were designed for the button size and to achieve desired the melt rates to match the production delivery.

The whole system was modelled in 3D using Autodesk Inventor to visualize the final installation and show non-engineering staff the concept design of the installation. This proved to be invaluable with the customer being able to see what the finished installation will look like it then became a master document to incorporate other equipment into the assembly drawing.

Installation.

The framework was fabricated in sections offsite with minimal welds to be made on site. This provided a seamless tubular stainless steel hygienic frame matching the previous site standard of a previous HPS installation.

The design of the framework enabled the pipe work to be pre-manufactured and then just assembled on site once the framework was erected, meaning minimal time on site and being more efficient with the costs.

The project commissioning was undertaken smoothly and met all aspects of the Factory Acceptance.
